Honoring Ancestral Lands: Exploring the Sacred Paths of People's Crossing (El Cruce de los Pueblos)

Join Senderos as we embark on a meaningful journey along the Red Rocks trail network, accessed via the People's Crossing (El Cruce de los Pueblos) trailhead. Formerly known as Settler's Park, this name was thoughtfully changed to honor the representatives of federally recognized American Indian tribes, acknowledging this land as a historical crossroads for Indigenous Peoples who have traversed and lived in the Boulder area since time immemorial.

This beautiful and easy 2-mile trail guides us through stunning towers and ocher sandstone formations, culminating in a breathtaking vista overlooking the city of Boulder. As we walk these paths, we walk with the spirit of the new name, a testament to the dedicated efforts of community members and American Indian Tribal Nations who championed the Boulder Indigenous Peoples Day Resolution and guided this significant renaming.

For this special Sendero, please bring warm layers, sturdy hiking shoes, ample water, and snacks. We'll provide comforting hot chocolate and, most importantly, a profound connection to the history and significance of this land.
