Featured Sendero: People’s Crossing

People’s crossing (El Cruce de los Pueblos) trailhead, formerly known as Settler's Park, provides access to the Red Rocks trail network. This beautiful and easy trail of approx. 2 miles, climb up towers and ocher sandstone formations. From the summit, we will enjoy a beautiful view of the city of Boulder!

The new name honors representatives of federally recognized American Indian tribes. This new name is the result of the efforts of community members who created the Boulder Indigenous Peoples Day Resolution and guided the representatives of the American Indian Tribal Nation.

HISTORY
In June 2021, the City of Boulder renamed "Settler's Park" in West Boulder to "The Peoples' Crossing," a name developed by representatives of federally recognized American Indian tribes. The name honors the area as a crossroads for Indigenous Peoples who have traversed and lived in the mountains and plains of the Boulder area since time immemorial.
